About

Hello, my name is Jess. There’ll be a photo here at some point.

I’m a writer and artist living within touching distance of the Peak District, and (after a hiatus) I’m back to writing semi-regular blogs on seemingly disparate subjects:

  • Walks in the Peaks, or to ruins, or anywhere with some historical or aesthetic interest;

  • Photo series, where I chronicle some pattern or other that has caught my attention in a wordless post;

  • Projects, because sometimes I overcome my procrastination and make and write things;

  • Letters on Social Media, a series of fictional letters that explore some of the ways our poor human minds are ill-equipped to cope with digital communication;

  • Any other subjects that cling to my brain.

My most-read post is on Cucklet Delf, in Eyam, which was happily linked to from a Guardian post. My favourite blog so far is on the surprisingly little-known story of P.G. Wodehouse’s wartime disgrace.

Etsy Shop & Redbubble

In a previous life, I designed and made a lot of Sheffield-based products, some of which are still available to buy in my Etsy store.

Now that the most popular products have sold out there, you can find them on a wide range of products (from the usual prints and posters to clocks, shower curtains and leggings) in my Redbubble shop.
